User Groups for B1UP functionality assignment
One of our customers came up with an interesting request. Is there a way that groups of users could be defined in B1UP and then the group used in the various functions (such as Function Buttons, IPT, etc.) instead of entering each user individually?
As an example, assume that we have a Function Button on the Sales Order, some IPT setups and some Validations that should be applied to anyone in the Sales Group, but no one else. Users in the Sales Group today are Mary, Joe and Bob. As B1UP works now I have to go to each B1UP function and set up the list of users manually. Now Joe leaves and Fred becomes part of the Sales Group. I have to remember all of the places where the original group of users was set up and make the change in each place. With the Group concept I could simply remove Joe from the Group and add Fred, all in one place.
Seems like a good idea to me. Thanks.

Re: User Groups for B1UP functionality assignment
Thank you for the request... it is allready on our (too long) todo list... Two questions...
1: Is there allready a group-structure of the user that fits this in SAP (I don't know any other than employee and that is pretty bad) or should B1UP create it's own groups? 2: Should a user be able to be part of two/more groups?

Re: User Groups for B1UP functionality assignment
Rasmus -
The only relationships in SBO I can find that might be used for this purpose are related to the Employee Master. There are Roles (table HEM6) and Teams (HTM1) associated with each Employee and an Employee can be associated with an SBO user. But it seems to me that having B1UP-specific groups would be more efficient.
I would think that it should be possible for a user to be a member of more than one group. For example, a user might need to be part of an "inventory" group and part of a "purchasing" group since the functions can be somewhat inter-related. Also, if you don't allow membership in multiple groups then you could end up with many very small groups which would defeat some of the reason for this functionality.
Regards,
Ross Unger
